The one with the vinyl.

So a few weeks ago, I made a very fun purchase - my first record player. Nothing fancy, but it does the job and looks pretty in my living room.

One day I'd like to be fancy and put the record player on a table like this, but until then I'll be happy with my $9 TV tray from Target. ;)

My girlfriend, Ashley, who is always in the know about anything involving music told me about a great spot to buy used records - McKay's Books. If you live in the NoVA area, you need to check it out! We were only there to browse records, but they have a huge DVD and book area as well.

Here are a few pictures from that morning (which had to start with coffee, of course)...

So we walked away with some Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, Joan Baez, and The Carpenters - all in all a good day.

That is all.

  2. I grew up with a record player & used to listen to my parents' records all the time. They have the best music from the 70's! I've been on the hunt for one to add to my new house, too :)

  4. How fun! I don't know that I'm cool enough to get a record player {seriously, pretty sure my friends would just look at me really funny...}, but I love the idea!

  5. How fun! You and Ashley seem to come up with the coolest places! I should go through my parent's attic. They have boxes upon boxes of records.

  6. How fun! I'm sure those old albums sound great on vinyl instead of CDs. I love finding a great used book or music store. There definitely need to be more of those in the world :)

  7. My parents had a record player (they still do) when I was growing up. My sister and I used to dance around the living room to a "Hooked on Swing" record!

McKay's is great - but it stresses me out a little bit, because as far as books go it's not *really* organized and it's overwhelming! :)

  14. Awesome that you got a record player! A friend of mine is totally obsessed with records to the point where, when she moved across the states, she had to bring 20 lbs of them with her.

  20. I live in NoVA as well, and I love the McKay book store! It is awesome.
Love the huge DVD section. The book section...not as great with the amount of fiction books, but it's still good.
